Christmas

Well, I set a goal for myself to blog about Christmas before February was over. Aren't you impressed? I just couldn't blog about Christmas in March. So this year we went to Utah for Christmas.

We gave Katelyn her Christmas present early because it was too big to travel with. She got a Dora the Explorer dollhouse and she really likes it!

Utah was so snowy and picturesque. With snow everywhere and all the Christmas lights on the houses, it looked so much more like Christmas than it does in California.

Of course my mother-in-law had her house beautifully decorated and I love taking pictures of her Christmas trees! They look different every year!

Katelyn and Daniel loved being with their cousins. Matthew is especially sweet to Daniel. He was playing with him and watching over him and saying things like "I love baby Daniel!"

He even let Daniel chew on some of his favorite toys like Captain America.

Daniel was constantly climbing up the stairs so everyone had to take turns watching him. We don't have any stairs in our house so this was his first opportunity to master the stairs and he loved it. It was so cute watching him go up the stairs and hear him laughing the whole way up!

Morgan and Daniel had some fun together too!

Even though Daniel is too young to understand the concept of Christmas presents, he seemed pretty happy and excited on Christmas morning!

Katelyn on the other hand didn't have the same zeal. She got a LeapPad 2 for Christmas and seemed a little disappointed. I wonder if she was thinking, "This isn't as good as Daddy's iPad." She loves her LeapPad now and plays with it everyday!

Chris' parents spoiled us rotten and here is the proof! After opening tons of presents, we all just enjoyed the day! The kids played with each other and their new toys. We ate lots of yummy food. My mother-in-law was sweet to invite my sister and her family over for Christmas dinner and it was fun seeing them on Christmas Day!

We tried to get Christmas pictures of all the grand kids together. Always a challenging task! This is one of the best pictures we got. Katelyn isn't looking at the camera but it is still cute and candid.

All of the adults were trying to be funny and I guess it wasn't quite working.

I LOVE these cheeks!

We got tons of snow the next few days and I wanted Katelyn to have a chance to play in the snow and build a snowman! She loves reading about snowmen and having us draw them. The kids stayed outside for about 20 minutes and then got tired of being out in the cold. So Chris and the kids took a few shortcuts and this is how Frosty turned out.

Unfortunately I spent a good bit of my time upstairs away from everyone else dealing with some breastfeeding issues. Plugged milk ducts! Count yourself lucky if you have never had this problem. It is very time consuming and painful. I spent who knows how many hours pumping, expressing, and showering trying to get back to normal. I have actually been dealing with this problem on and off for months and I can't tell you how happy I am to almost have Daniel completely weaned! Sorry if that was too much information!

While I was working through my nursing dilemmas, I started watching some popular shows. I watched the Kennedys mini series and enjoyed that. I also started watching Downton Abbey and got hooked immediately! It really helped pass the time and made the trial a little easier to bear.

Anyway, we stayed at Nana's house for a few days and one day I could tell Katelyn was starting to get stir crazy so we all went to Scheels. It is a huge sports store that has a food court, rides, and a playground for kids. Another day Chris and I got to go out for a date and go shopping and get lunch. We also got to see some of our friends from our BYU days one night!

My family came to Utah for a couple of days to see us and we did a little Christmas celebration with them one night and exchanged gifts. One day we all went swimming at my parent's hotel indoor pool. The night before we left, my family came over to Chris' parent's house for dinner. It was fun to have both families together. We ate, talked, and played Scum!

The kids had a lot of fun too! They jumped on Nana's bed

and explored the house together!

Good times!
