Rome - Day 1

Back in May, we went on a Mediterranean cruise with Chris' family. We spent a few days in Rome before starting the cruise. I have a lot of catching up to do on my blog! Chris and I flew from Denver to Atlanta and then from Atlanta to Rome. The Atlanta to Rome flight was 10 hours, which is the longest flight I have ever been on. It was 7:30 in the morning when we arrived in Rome. When we got to our hotel, we all took a much needed nap. We spent the rest of the day doing a little site seeing.

We saw the Spanish Steps. As you can see, it was pretty crowded.

A view from the top of the Spanish Steps.

The Trevi Fountain!

Chris and I in front of the Trevi Fountain

Altar of the Fatherland (also known as the Wedding Cake)

The Pantheon! Can you see me and Chris standing in front? This building is huge!

The famous dome with an opening to the sky inside the Pantheon. So impressive that something like this was built so long ago!

When you walk around in Rome, you feel like you could take a picture of every square inch of the city. There are so many beautiful things to see and I enjoyed seeing all the pretty alleyways.

Piazza Navona. This piazza is in the movie Angels and Demons!

The Fountain of the Four Rivers

A closer view of one side of the fountain.

Lots of art vendors selling some beautiful artwork

The Supreme Court of Cassation

Some of the cars are so tiny!

Castle of the Holy Angel

The sun was setting as we walked along the Tiber River and it was gorgeous. I love the bridges!

Our first day in Rome was pure bliss! At the end of our walk we passed by the Vatican, which is where we began the next day!
